The
facility which opened in Shelby County in January, 2007 has provided more
than 450 abused and homeless women and their children a safe and loving Christ-centered
environment in which to live. The home includes two-room family suites,
a library and learning center, day care center, playground and butterfly
garden, a prayer room, a counseling room, two dens, dining room and kitchen,
as well as administrative offices. The program at Hannah Home Shelby
guides the women through four phases during their stay which ultimately leads
to their relocation to one of four transitional apartments on the property in
which they experience independence and self-reliance. Hannah Home
Shelby is a ministry of The King’s Ranch and Hannah Homes. It has two goals. A
financial goal of raising $100,000 each year for the operating expenses at
Hannah Home Shelby. And the mission is to dedicate time, talents, and prayers
to these precious women and children.
ABOUT THE AUXILIARY
The
Hannah Home Shelby Auxiliary was formed in March, 2005 to help raise funds
for a new Hannah Home in Shelby County. Our first charter member was First
Lady Patsy Riley who continues her advocacy for women and children in need
through the Auxiliary. The organization was incorporated with official
bylaws in March, 2006, and our 501(c)(3) non-profit status was granted in December, 2006.
More than 100 Auxiliary members continue to support the home through
donations, volunteering in the home and fundraising events. The Auxiliary
has played an important role in hosting signature events with nationally
known celebrities including “An Evening with Jane Seymour”, “A Recipe for
Hope with Paula Deen”, “An Evening of Champions-Scoring a Victory for Hannah
Home Shelby” and “Boots, Blues and Barbeque with Taylor Hicks”. We
continue our fundraising events annually with Spring Tablescapes and a Fall
8K race, “Run Away…From Domestic Violence”.
